About Us

Where it all began

Introduction

St. James’ Settlement operated the first ‘People’s Food Bank’ in Hong Kong in late 2003 to alleviate hunger problem by providing short-term food assistance. Since then, diversified services such as meal service for the elderly, milk powder subsidy program, hot meal service and grocery market have been in place to benefit more people in need and lighten their financial burden. This actualizes our mission of ‘it is more blessed to give than to receive.’

With the expansion of service and the rapid increase in the number of service users, People’s Food Bank sets up more offices to provide short-term food assistance service across Hong Kong. Through cooperating with partner agencies in different districts, service users can access food assistance service more conveniently.

Mission

‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’. Through receiving donation from different people, food assistance is provided to people in need on emergency and short-term basis.
